행복 (Happiness)

무엇이 당신을 행복하게 합니까? 게임, 친구들과 채팅, 유투브인가요? 아니면, 멋진 장난감? 어렸을 때, 저는 이것들만이 저를 행복하게 할 수 있다고 생각했어요. 하지만, 나이가 들면서, 저는 저를 행복하게 할 수 있는 또 다른 것이 있다는 것을 깨달았어요. 그것은 바로 주변의 사람들이 나의 노력의 결과를 즐기는 것을 보는 것입니다.

제가 태어났을 때 상황이 좋지 않았어요. 저는 심각한 폐 질환을 앓고 있어서 숨을 쉴 수 없었고, 제 피부는 파랗게 질렸습니다.  저는 온몸에 튜브와 전선이 뒤덮인체 신생아 중환자실에 입원했습니다. 제가 살아남기 위해 발버둥칠때, 영락교회 교인들께서 저를 위해 기도하셨습니다. 병원의 간호사 중 한 분이 다양한 성경 구절로 가득 찬 포스트잇 노트들을 제 머리 위에 붙여놓기도 했습니다. 하나님은 많은 사람들의 노력과 희망을 좋게 보셨고, 저는 회복할 수 있었습니다.

교회 미술대회에 제 출생을 소재로 한 작품을 만들어 입상했을 때, 제가 받은 상금으로 무엇을 해야 할지 고민했습니다. 제가 원하는 것도 있었지만, 영락교회 교인들이 저를 위해 해주신 일을 기억하면서 저는 감사함을 표현하고 싶어졌습니다. 그래서, 저는 상금을 8월에 권사님들께서 핫도그와 함께 나눠주신 레모네이드를 기부하는데 사용했습니다. 또한, 핫도그와 레모네이드 가판대를 준비하는 것을 도왔습니다. 아침 일찍 6시에 일어나서 교회에 도착해 무거운 물건들을 나르고, 식탁을 차리고, 음식과 음료를 정리했습니다. 비록 피곤하고  몸은 지쳤지만, 보람이 있을거라고 생각했습니다.

준비가 끝나고 교회 사람들이 핫도그와 레모네이드를 먹기 시작했을 때, 저는 그들의 얼굴에서 기쁨을 볼 수 있었습니다. 그들은 음식을 먹으며 다른 사람들과 함께 시간을 보내는 것을 행복해했습니다. 사람들은 레모네이드가 맛있다고 말하며 레모네이드를 가지러 계속 왔습니다. 모든 일이 잘 풀려서 기뻤고, 정말 행복했습니다.

태어나서 지금까지 저를 위해 기도해 주신 분들께 감사합니다. 여러분의 기도를 진심으로 감사드리며, 여러분의 친절을 평생 잊지 않겠습니다. 여러분의 도움이 없었더라면, 저는 지금 이 이야기를 드릴수 없었을 것입니다.  여러분에게 하나님의 은총이 있기를 바랍니다.

What brings you happiness? Is it games, chatting with your friends, YouTube? Maybe, cool toys? As a kid, I thought those things were the only things that could make me happy. But, growing older, I realized that there is another thing that can make me happy – watching those around you enjoy the results of your effort.

When I was born, things weren’t looking good. I had severe lung problems and I could barely breathe, and my skin was turning blue.  I was placed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with tubes and wires all over my body. As I struggled to survive, the people of Youngnak prayed for me. One of the nurses at the hospital put post-it notes filled with various Bible verses above my head. God looked with favor on the efforts and hopes of many people, and I was able to recover.

When I created an art piece based on my birth for the church Art Contest and won, I thought about what I should do with the prize money I had earned. There were things I wanted, but remembering what the people of Youngnak had done for me made me want to express my gratitude. So, I used the prize money to donate the lemonade given out with the hotdogs by the Deaconesses, in August. Also, I helped with the preparations for the hotdog and lemonade stand. I woke up early at 6 AM and arrived at church to carry heavy supplies, set up tables, and arrange the food and drinks. Although it was tiring and my body was exhausted, I knew it would be worth it.

When the preparations were finished and the church people began taking the hotdogs and lemonade, I could see the joy on their faces. They were happy to eat the food and spend time with others as they ate. People kept coming back for the lemonade, saying how delicious it was. I was glad everything turned out well, and it made me really happy.

I want to thank the people who prayed for me from birth to now. I truly appreciate your prayers, and I will never forget your kindness for as long as I live. If I didn’t have your help, I wouldn’t be here to tell this story.  God bless you ~~
